911 Map Coverage: Why Some Cities Have No Pins

Published October 10, 2026 · Signal 911 Live

Signal 911 Live — Coverage public-safety guide

A city can have a 911 map page without a connected live source. Pins require a usable publisher record with a report time and public coordinates. Missing pins can reflect limited coverage, withheld data, an old snapshot or a failed source rather than an absence of emergencies.

Metro circles and incident pins

The homepage highlights 50 metro coverage locations. Those circles are navigation markers. They are separate from incident pins imported from connected sources.

The full directory has 100 metro pages. The number of directory pages should never be interpreted as the number of departments publishing usable feeds.

Read the source status

Connected partial coverage means the site can process a publisher’s released subset. Empty snapshot means the source responded with no records. No recent reports means the available snapshot has no qualifying reports in the recent window.

Source unavailable indicates a failed check and can coexist with previously imported records. Those older records do not establish that the connection is working now.

Why source verification matters

A usable feed needs supported identifiers, report times and coordinates within the intended jurisdiction. A historical dataset, station map or performance table cannot be substituted for current incidents.

Signal 911 links to original publishers and labels coverage limits. Compare the source status with individual report times whenever you use the map to understand local activity.

Explore the published coverage

Open the national incident map, find your metro, or check local agency feeds and their availability.

Publisher examples: Seattle Fire 911 calls and Montgomery County live incident status. These are separate jurisdictions, each with its own coverage.
