Police Activity in My Area Right Now: How to Check Public Reports

Published October 3, 2026 · Signal 911 Live

Signal 911 Live — Police public-safety guide

To check police activity near you, start with your local department’s public dispatch page, then compare report times and coverage on a mapped incident feed. Public information can be delayed or incomplete; a nearby marker does not establish what happened or whether officers are still there.

Start with the correct jurisdiction

Choose the city or county where the activity occurred. A metro area can contain many police departments, and one connected department cannot represent every neighborhood. Use the coverage status on the metro page to see which sources are actually connected.

A search result for Baltimore, Ohio is not a report from Baltimore City, Maryland. Verify the state, agency and publisher before interpreting a call. Similar place names can send a search to the wrong jurisdiction.

Check the time and call description

A dispatch record usually describes the initial reason for a response. Officers may later determine that the situation was different. Report time, dispatch time and a map refresh time are separate things: a freshly loaded map can still contain an older record.

Signal 911 shows recent publisher reports with approximate locations. A map pin is not a statement that an incident remains active. Open the details and original source to see the available context.

What if nothing appears?

A missing record can mean that the agency does not publish that type of call, the feed is delayed, or the site has no connected source for the area. It does not prove that nothing happened. Sensitive calls may be withheld.

For a non-emergency inquiry, use the department’s official contact information. To report an emergency, call 911. Do not approach a response scene or rely on an online feed to decide whether a location is safe.

Explore the published coverage

Open the national incident map, find your metro, or check local agency feeds and their availability.

Publisher examples: Seattle Fire 911 calls and Montgomery County live incident status. These are separate jurisdictions, each with its own coverage.
